The first giveaway will be this Thursday the 14th at 12:00 noon Eastern time and the second giveaway will be Wednesday the 20th at 12:00 noon Eastern Time. Like always, to enter, just comment or ask a question on the live Facebook video. You will have 24 hours to make comments so everyone has a chance to see it and get in on the giveaway. I will announce the winner after the 24 hours are up. Here is the Facebook link.
We truly appreciate all of your thoughts and prayers while we were sick. Talk to you all soon! Mandy
Hello everyone! How is your week going so far? Our’s has been pretty smooth and fun. So far no real bumps or craziness. Lol We had such a fun day yesterday! Remember I told you the Pittsburgh Symphony at Heinz Hall has free school shows. Well, that was yesterday. It was so cool! The foyer where we walked in first wasn’t that fancy. Just a few neat things. When they opened the doors to the inner foyer…our boys were in awe at the fancy decor and stairways. The awe continued as the usher took us to our seats in the hall. It is the fanciest place the boys have ever been to. We were the first people in our seats and the boys got to see the musicians slowly come out to tune their instruments and practice before they started. WYH loved seeing the huge harp, but was a bit disappointed he couldn’t hear it when she played. LH was checking out the different drum sounds…especially the big and low sounding kettle drums. WH liked everything and thought the building was amazing. The only thing that could have made it better for them was if we would have been seated in one of the balconies. Lol After the show was over, we walked down the street a bit and checked out a couple buildings and a pretty fountain. Then we headed to the Carnegie Science Center. The boys were in heaven.
They loved everything there! We did everything from learning how water systems work, like plumbing and river dams to how the body works, robots and machines, a laser show, a submarine tour and about natural disasters. They even had an earthquake simulator and all that was only in the first building!
We finished all that fun stuff and headed over to the sports complex. LH, WH and I had a blast on the high ropes course.
WYH loved the spinning thing that would send you flying off if you went too fast. We all had fun playing a giant hockey game together. I have to say it was one of ….if not the best field trip we have ever taken. We look forward to going again! Thank you Pittsburgh for such a wonderful time! We can’t wait to go back!

Good Morning! Monday has come yet again.
So, yesterday we went to see a play at a local theater. My sister in-law and brother in-law were both in it…so we wanted to make sure we went to see them in their first play. They are 10 and 12…I think. I’m so bad with birthdays . Anyway, it was a special needs production of “Honked Jr.” A very cute version of “The Ugly Duckling.” Just to give you a little background on me, I am not a crier (is that how you spell that?) I don’t like to cry and I don’t cry easily. Ok, now that I told you that, on with the story.
The lights blinked and it was time for the play to start. The producer came out and explained how things work in a special needs play. Each actor had an attendant to help them and the attendant would be dressed in black. They attendants would be there to help with lines if they forgot them or to help them remember where to go. They also had subtitles to help you follow the story because some of them had trouble speaking.
Well, the first big song started and everyone singing together, some could speak clearly, some a little mumbled and a few of them it was more of a grunt. I lost it! I started tearing up and then down the cheek they went. It touched my heart so deeply to see these people on the stage giving it their all, not being afraid of what people will think or say. They were so brave. They were amazing! I get nervous just to talk to a person one on one sometimes and I don’t have issues with my voice or a physical issue that make some people uncomfortable. They were inspiring! I have always thought that God chooses parents of special needs kids as a blessing to them and that they are very special parents to have been chosen to care for a child with a special need. I admire them and their child.
I have never been so touched by something as simple as a silly play just did. Well, not the play, but the wonderful people in the play. They sang their hearts out and put everything into their character. I wish I had better words to express how they made me feel. Our boys loved it too. I wasn’t sure how they would react. They have been around some kids with special needs, but you still never know how they will take it I can’t wait to take them to the next one. I believe going to these plays will help our boys learn to look on the inside and passed whatever is on the outside. I know this wasn’t exactly a motivational post, I just had to share it with you all. Watching The play was so inspiring and touching to to me. If they can get up there and do what they did on stage, why am I holding back on things? Why am I letting fear stop me? I need to move on, not worry about what others think, say or do. I need to do what I feel is best for our family and so do you!
I hope you all have a great day and that this week goes well. Thank you for following us and our journey. It really means a lot to me. If you are able to I would love to hear what your fears are…what is holding you back? Let us come together to support and pray to help each other overcome these fears. Talk to you later, Mandy
I am going to have a live review and then a giveaway on my Facebook page Monday, October, 30th at 12:00 noon Eastern time! I will show how it all works and I think you are going to love it.
Grammar Galaxy was created by Dr. Melanie Wilson/psychowith6. She is a Christian Psychologist turned homeschool mom. She has had some crazy times making everything work, so she has been developing organizational and sanity saving tips. Along with Grammar Galaxy she has written a book called The Organized Homeschool Life.
“The Organized Homeschool Life is a practical guide for achieving homeschool success, even if you’re not naturally organized. As you complete the weekly challenges, you will save time and money so you can enjoy teaching your children.” Dr. Melanie Wilson.
Grammar Galaxy is a story based Language Arts curriculum. There are two volumes so far, nebula and Prostar. They both have Mission Manuals that go along with them. Your kids will not even think they are learning. When we do our Grammar Galaxy lesson, we do it all together. All three boys listen to the story and answer the questions. The way Dr. Wilson has developed the “Mission Manual” all three boys are able to highlight or write the answers. It is ingenious! They especially love the erasable highlighter that you get if you order the HARD copy. I am really excited to show you all Grammar Galaxy, it makes Language Arts a breeze. The first volume is technically for young readers, but even my 12 year old son is learning and having fun with it. The second volume is geared towards third grade and up, but like I said, my 12 year old is enjoying the first volume. We are going to go all the way through both volumes together. I love having lessons we can do all together and don’t require any prep work! Dr. Wilson also has a facebook support page you can join. It offers extra support, challenges and ideas. I hope to see you at the review and giveaway! Here is the Hunt’s Happy Homeschool Facebook Link to join us Monday! Please share with anyone you think would be interested in this.
I almost forgot!!! Dr. Wilson made a special discount code for all of my followers. Get 10% off with code HuntsHappy10. This code is only good until November 12th, so get your orders in soon! If you order before the giveaway and you win the free pdf in my giveaway, Dr. Wilson will refund your money. So, Please visit Dr. Wilson’s website and check out her book and Grammar Galaxy. See you Monday! Mandy
