What’s Up Wednesday

Good Morning! I hope your week is going well. Ours has been good and a little rough at the same time. The rough part wasn’t that bad, just kiddos not wanting to do chores or some school work I wanted them to complete.

We had a fun trip to a local farm. They boys learned more about planting and growing pumpkins. They got to feed some ponies, goats and a donkey. We went through a straw and a corn maze. Then they took us out to the pumpkin patch by way of a hay ride. A little bumpy, but lots of fun. Lol After we rode on the hay ride back to the farm’s store we enjoyed some cider slushies. It was a beautiful day too. The sun was shining and the temperature was perfect.

What have you all been up to this week? Anything new and fun, or has it been a rough week?

Just to let you know, we will be having our next Thinking Tree Journal giveaway this Friday! I will let you know the time soon! I will also be scheduling the Grammar Galaxy Review and the KidArtLit review soon. I am still waiting on some clarification on some things. I think you guys are going to love all of these products! Let me know if there is a product you would like me to check out for you and I will see if I can do a review for you. I just found a neat product that is like legos, but that shows up on a tablet as you connect them. I have contacted them and am hoping to get to do a review and at least a coupon code if not a giveaway! So, let me know if you have any thoughts! I hope you all have a fun week! Talk to you later!

Bach, Beethoven, Pachelbel, Mozart

Our boys have been into classical music a lot. Since I was pretty tired today we decided to watch documentaries about composers and how to read music. I then started to wonder…..are there any close symphonies that have school shows….I bet there are. So, I looked up symphonies near us….none are “near” lol. Anyway, I found Heinz Hall in Pittsburgh and emailed them. Ok, get this, not only do they have shows for schools, but also cater to homeschool and families and here is the big surprise….they are free! So, if you aren’t far from Pittsburgh, check it out! Here is the link. We have already made our reservations! Let us know if you are going too! Would love to meet some of you!

They also have pre-show info and activities for you and your kiddos to do and learn before you go. Here is the link for that.

What’s Up Wednesday

Morning guys! I hope your week has been going well. Ours has been a little abnormal….good, just not our normal schedule. Monday we took off just to spend some time relaxing together and Ben hadn’t been feeling well so he needed the extra rest anyway. Yesterday the boys and I went on a Field trip to our local state park for a homeschool bird and wildlife demonstration. Did you know hummingbirds only live in North and South America, that there are over 320 different breeds and only sixteen of those breeds live in the US and only one breed lives in our home state of Ohio? I was blown away! Lol I thought I knew a lot about our local birds, but I was schooled. Lol WH and LH really enjoyed it. They loved seeing a wing from a hawk and different sized eggs and skulls. It was pretty neat. WYH didn’t really get into it, he just kept climbing up and down on the fence rail beside me. Lol After that we took a little drive to get a small treat and then headed home to finish up chores and play. LH had gymnastics yesterday evening. Ben and I took him and dropped him off then went on a mini date and got a couple of Auntie Ann’s pretzels…those are so yummy! Then we headed back to watch LH for the rest of his practice .

That’s about all we had going on so far this week. What have you all been up to? Anything new or exciting? How does your schedule usually go or are you a more spontaneous kind of family? Let me know! I love to hear about different styles of homeschools. I hope you all have a wonderful rest of the week! We are looking forward to another field trip tomorrow! Talk to you later! Mandy

What’s Up Wednesday!

Hump day already! I swear the older I get the faster time seems to go. Anyway, I decided to make Wednesday’s our “What’s Up Wednesday” post. Where we share what we have been up to for the week and where you can share how your week has been going. It can be about hhomeschooling, anything you want to brag about or get off your chest. So, without further adue….our first, What’s Up Wednesday!

So, I’m not going to lie….this week has been a llittle frustrating. Nothing major just the boys not wanting to do chores or school work or go to bed. Like any normal kid, right?

Don’t get me wrong, we have had a lot of good times too. WH is really into classical music from around the world. We have been listening to it during school. It distracts him a little, but I think the cultural exposure is a huge positive. He is also really starting to understand math. I think using the Thinking Tree journals and Life of Fred together are helping him grasp things.

LH is taking off with his reading ….he is reading books to his younger brother and starting to gain a lot of confidence because of that.

WYH, now he is a different story and we are still trying to use all kinds of things to help him learn. He is a hands on learner. He doesn’t like to sit down and write in journals or read a book. He has enjoyed listening to The Mouse and the Motorcycle book at night. Teach your monster to read has become a God send. He is starting to read and doesn’t even realize it! He loves building so I usually have build some kind of structure with blocks too. This week I have slacked a little with that though.

I have been trying to work on my blog and learn how to make it better for all of you. It really is a learning curve, but I’m getting there. I appreciate all of you joining me for this ride! Talk to ya later, Mandy

Update on possible birthday giveaway giveaway: we have gotten several more followers and we are getting close to our goal of 50 new followers! We still need 15 more by tomorrow morning! If we get there by 9:30 am Eastern, we will do the extra Thinking Tree review and giveaway! So, keep sharing and sharing! We are so close to the goal! I really want to give something away! Also, I am going to do it a little different. I will do the live review, but to make sure we give working mamas and others time to see it and comment, I won’t announce a winner until Friday morning! Have a great day!
